Explaining our fare types


Choose which type of fare suits you best – Economy, Flexi, or Premium. 
ECONOMY: Our lowest fare 
Grab the lowest fare when you book Economy! Great if you want to save money, but if your plans change, you'll find this fare type is more restrictive.

  • Change name, contact details, or license plate number online for free.
  • Add people, cabins, or other extras to your online booking with no service fee but you'll have to pay any difference in fares.
  • You will be charged an amendment fee as well as any difference in fares when you change route, date, or time of departure.
  • You will not receive any refund if you cancel your booking.
 
FLEXI: Our flexible fare 
If your plans are likely to change, a Flexi fare will give you more freedom for a good price.

  • Change your booking online for free. There’s no amendment fee, but you’ll have to pay any difference in fares.
  • Get a 100% refund if you cancel up to 24 hours before departure (minus a small cancellation fee).
  • Get a 50% refund if you cancel up to 2 hours before departure (minus a small cancellation fee).
  • You will not receive any refund if you cancel your booking less than 2 hours before departure.
 
PREMIUM: Our ‘best of the best’ fare 
The most flexible fare, with added perks!

  • Change your booking online for free. There’s no amendment fee, but you’ll have to pay any difference in fares.
  • Get a 100% refund if you cancel up to 2 hours before departure (minus a small cancellation fee).
  • Enjoy unlimited use of the Stena Plus Lounge on selected routes*.
  • Receive priority boarding and disembarking on selected routes*.
  • You will not receive any refund if you cancel your booking less than two hours before departure.

*When making your booking, select Premium fare to see what benefits are available on your chosen route.

* You will be charged a cancellation service fee of €3.50 per single journey. Cancellation and amendment conditions, as described above, do not apply if you are travelling via Rail and Sail. All daytrips and short stays have the Economy conditions applied.

A booking fee of €15 will be applied if you make a booking via telephone or in person at the Travel Centre. 

 

Amendment fees can be charged in three different ways.

 

  1. Amendment fee Economy. This is the fee Stena Line charges for changing the route, travel date and/or sailing time of your booking. This fee is €35 per single journey changed. If you change the vehicle and the sailing date at the same time, you will be charged one amendment fee. If you change these 2 items at different times, you will be charged 2 amendment fees.
  2. Service fee for amendment. This is the fee Stena Line charges when you change your booking via phone or e-mail. This fee is €7.50 per call or visit. If you make multiple changes at the same time you will only be charged 1 service fee. If you change your booking online, yourself, you will not have to pay this fee.
  3. The difference in fare between the price when you made your booking and the price at the moment you make your amendment.

 

Example:

 

When you made your booking it is possible that you paid, for example, €100 for a ticket for a single journey for a car plus driver. If you were to change your booking to, say, a month later, it would be possible that a ticket for a car plus driver at that moment would cost €140 for that date. By saying the lowest available fare, we mean the fare that is still available at the time the booking is amended. With the Economy ticket you pay the €35 amendment fee and the €40 price difference that has occurred in the meantime. So, in total €75. With the Flexi ticket you only pay the €40 price difference that has occurred in the meantime. With the Flexi ticket you don't have to pay the amendment fee.

 

Also, you will save the €7.50 service fee when you change your booking online, yourself.

 

Change/cancel booking

 

Log in via the 'Login' or 'My Pages' button then fill in your e-mail address and password. When you are logged in you can easily view, change or cancel your bookings under the tab 'My bookings' by clicking the booking reference. You can amend your booking without logging in by entering your 8 digit booking reference and the e-mail address associated with the booking.

The difference in fare between the booking date and the date of change will not be paid back to you by Stena Line. Upgrades from Economy to Flexi or other ticket types are not permitted but you may upgrade from Flexi to Premium.
