What payment methods and currencies can be used on board?

We aim to make paying on board simple and convenient.
Payment options may vary depending on your route and vessel.

 

Card and digital payments

All vessels accept the following card payments:

 

  • American Express (AMEX)
  • JCB
  • Maestro
  • Mastercard
  • Visa
  • UnionPay

 

You can also pay using digital wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay.

 

Additional payment methods

On Irish Sea vessels, you can also pay using:

 

  • WeChat Pay

 

This applies to: Stena Adventurer, Stena Estrid, Stena Edda, Stena Embla, Stena Nordica, Superfast VII and Superfast VIII.

 

Cash payments and currencies

Cash payments are accepted on selected routes and in specific currencies. Details are provided below.

 

UK, Ireland and Holland routes

  • Cash is accepted in euros and local currency, such as British pounds sterling
  • Please check your route before you travel

 

Harwich – Hook of Holland

(Stena Britannica and Stena Hollandica)

 

  • Prices are shown in euros
  • Cash payments can be made in GBP
  • Card payments are processed in euros

 

Ireland – Britain routes
(Stena Superfast VII, Stena Superfast VIII, Stena Embla, Stena Edda, Stena Estrid, Stena Adventurer and Stena Nordica)

 

  • Prices are shown in GBP
  • Cash payments can be made in euros

Poland – Sweden route

(Gdynia – Karlskrona: Stena Spirit, Stena Ebba and Stena Estelle)

 

You can pay in cash using:

  • Swedish krona (SEK)
  • Euro (EUR)
  • Norwegian krone (NOK)

 

Cash-free vessels

Some of our vessels are cash-free.
This means you can only pay using card or digital payment methods on board.

 

Cash is only accepted in the casino and slot machines, where available.

  • Stena Danica and Stena Jutlandica (Frederikshavn – Gothenburg)
  • Stena Horizon and Stena Flavia (Travemünde – Liepāja)
  • Stena Baltica and Stena Scandica (Nynäshamn – Ventspils)

  • Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Skåne (Rostock – Trelleborg)
